Our lives can be so busy, so we need to go up to the Mountain just as Jesus did to encounter God.

So, what is this zoom meeting all about?

We call this Zoom meeting “The Mountain” and, simply put, The Mountain is a morning bible study that happens Monday through Friday at 6 AM on Zoom.

So, why is The Mountain relevant to you?

Have you ever tried to read the Bible on a consistent basis, failing over and over again to try to do so, and feeling super guilty about it? It’s kind of like putting off working out. You know that you should work out, but by continuing to put it off, you feel guilty and it only gets worse from there.

I also feel a similar sense of guilt when I try to read my Bible on a consistent basis and fail. I can feel the Holy Spirit weighing on my heart, “Jae, spend time reading my Word.” And when I don’t, I feel guilty and it only gets worse the longer I put it off. And, there have been countless times in the past, I prayed to God, “please send someone or people who can help me stay accountable and consistent with reading your word because I cannot do this alone.”

If you have felt this way or feeling this way at this moment, then, let me tell you, I believe that God has brought The Mountain into your life for this very reason. In other words, the Mountain may be that God-sent family who will help you stay accountable with reading God’s Word daily. So — welcome to the family ❤

Now, I’m going to be sharing a bit of scripture here and there is going to be a lot of information from this point on. But, it is really important that you read carefully nonetheless because it is important to have a grasp of the biblical warrant for The Mountain.

But why?

Because God commands us to make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:19 says,

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations

I believe that inherent in making disciples is growing as one as well. And, I believe that it is impossible for one to grow as a disciple of Jesus without reading His Word, not just a couple of days a week, but on a daily basis. Hence, our mission statement, “to grow as disciples of Jesus by reading His Word daily.”

But, more than anything, I ask that you come and join The Mountain not because of what I wrote in this letter, but because I believe that God may be calling you to. John 15:5 says,

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Jesus said that if we want to bear fruit, that is, to grow as disciples of Jesus, we need to abide in Him. And how do we do that? By abiding in His Word. John 15:7 says,

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you…

And it is impossible to abide in God’s Word if we don’t read His Word.

But, why with others? We are called to be the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says,

For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

There are many people who struggle greatly reading His Word on a daily basis and we, as a body, a collective whole, are called to help because when one part of the body is hurting, every part is. 1 Corinthians 12:26 says,

And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it;

And I haven’t found a better way to help others read the Bible than reading it with them together, as a body of Christ.

But why daily? Joshua 1:8 says,

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night…

How shall one learn to meditate on God’s word day and night? I can’t think of a better way to start your day, every day, by reading His Word.

In short, through the combination of the passages mentioned above, we can find the biblical warrant for us “to read the Bible daily with others.”

Even though there is so much more I wanted to share with you, I’m going to stop here because this is supposed to be an introduction letter 😂 And after reading this, if you don’t think that The Mountain is for you, then that’s completely okay because you may be in a season when attending The Mountain doesn’t make sense. And that is okay! We love you and we will be praying that you continue to grow as a disciple of Jesus.

However, if you would like to join The Mountain, then please…

In short, my heart for you, more than anything else, is for you to grow as disciples by reading His Word daily. And I hope that The Mountain will be that family where you can.
